Holistic Food Systems

The Convergence team

widen your perspective on food by cooking and understanding your connection to...

Course description
In this program we will take an in-depth look at how contemporary lifestyles are changing our food habits.

The once common wholesome recipes made at home are being forgotten in favor of processed factory-made products. Although it is very convenient to opt for ready-made food there are some social, health and ecological consequences that require us to think about whether this is the best way we can nurture our bodies, preserve our natural resources and support our local communities.
During the Holistic Food Systems program our main aim is to experience together the art of cooking from a holistic perspective and share our views, experiences and discoveries in relation to it. Theoretical sessions will be linked with hands-on activities, like harvesting, cooking and establishing your own kitchen garden, as well as sensorial games and relevant movies.

The Convergence team: We are 2 families, 9 residents, 5 adults, 4 children, it all depends on how you want to look at it. The 9 of us live at Evergreen in Auroville and are happy to welcome you into our home for Convergence. We come from India, South Africa, Israel, Canada and England with professional backgrounds as diverse as insurance, international development, ecology, yoga instruction and education.
Our staff is also an integral part of our family. We employ 4 people from nearby villages who help us with everything to do with the forest and our lives in it. Erumalai, Rajaswari, Kala and Kamla are integral to what we do and we feel blessed to be able to work with them.
